I worked a long day at the shop today and it was a terrifically busy day! I had a customer say that I just radiated sweetness and that she could tell how much I loved my shop, what I was doing and the people I was helping. I have had many people say things about me; not always the most flattering but this comment and the sincerity in which it was given and meant just made me feel so dang pleased! Yowzer - I do LOVE what I am doing!!!

Projects from Sunday

A doll made with wool felt, beads and yarn. I am thinking of teaching a class at the shop on these beginning techniques and making a doll class for grownups!
These are the three bracelets I've done this afternoon. Three amigos? Anyhow, jade and amber together are rumored to bring you both prosperity and health. Hope so!

This is a close up shot of the bracelets I made this afternoon using baltic amber, jade, a bit of czech glass and vintage bakelite dice. I love the mixture of color, texture, age and the addition of one of my sterling charms.

Saturday, September 27

It was a beautiful day that finally appeared at about one o' clock today and the film festival attendees loved it! The warm day with clear skies made the outdoor film festival venue a really nice event! I love a pretty day in PT! I especially love the smell of salt in the air and the light breeze that skips on the water. Here is a picture to share of PT that will help you see what I mean. xo, Lois

Oops! The Time Has Flown!

Fall is my most favorite time of the year! I love the crispness of the air on my morning walks, the coloring of the leaves, the die back of some of the brush even the puff balls of the dandelions in my yard. I have managed, however to catch a cold! Two days spent lazing around so far at home. I hate feeling confined in the house. I don't even feel like working in the studio!

Now you may be wondering why I am writing on my blog when I really have nothing of earth shaking consequences to say and no FABULOUS pictures to post ... it is because Whit said if I did not write I would have a " dead " blog! So here you go Whit, I wrote, you read, it is done! HAHAHAHA - Lois

It Can Not be 5 Days Since I Wrote Here!

Here is a photo of my poor put upon Regina who had to sleep on her pushed up much too small bed. Poor baby! We had to vacuum around it so it ended up bunched in a pile but she just HAD to sleep on it!
It feels like fall here finally! The misting rain continued all day and the fog neverdid lift. Ahhh .... I can feel recharged here and now! This will need to be ashort entry as I am so tired I can not hold open my eyes! I swear more info tomorrow! G'night, Lois

Politics! Here we have a party that has run the country literally into the ground and still people think John McCain and his vice presidential candidate ( I can not EVEN write her name let alone say it ) are worth voting for! I promised myself, half heartedly, that I would not mention politics on my blog but I can not stand by and watch the country continue into the meltdown that we are experiencing today! Here we have the border patrol stopping citizens on the streets of PT and asking to search their belongings or asking for ID and people comply and say that this policy is protecting us from terrorism! Has no one heard of the 4th ammendment? Illegal search and seizure without warrents. And what has our illustrious border patrol done for us in all the money they have spent in the last month? They caught 13 illegal immigrants, one of them a 15 year old high school football hero and smart ( ! ) kid and 2 people on bench warrants ( DUI ). Boy ! Do I feel safer!

Honestly, I will try to limit my tirades here and practice what I preach. Take a deep breath, and practice hope..... Lois

Well, I am missing my regular evening calls from Andrea while she is off in Italy so I thought I'd post a picture of a mirror I painted up for her and Whit for a Christmas. She'll be home after the 16th....

Happy Anniversary!

This is us on the night Phil proposed at his company's Christmas party. I was surprised and gee, but my hair was dark! No gray then! And my, what big glasses I had !
We recently celebrated by doing nothing special, our 14th wedding anniversary. We have actually been together for 15 years and the Wooden Boat Festival weekend 15 years ago ( how could it be that many years ago!? ) was our first BIG weekend as a couple! I am selfish, I want lots of more years with my honey. Yes, even when he drives me crazy around the bend, even when we butt heads, even when we don't always see eye to eye, he is still fun to be around. Yep, more years sounds just fine. Good thing he likes beads! xo, Lois

The Lady Washington

Port Townsend Bay with a shot across downtown with the mountain in the background.

It was a stunningly beautiful day in PT with the Wooden Boat Festival going on, sun out, temperatures nearing 8o degrees and a very light, warm wind. I love looking at " our " classic wooden boat, The Lady Washington. Although I do not know all her specifics; she was the ship featured in the original movie, The Pirates of the Carribean with Johnny Depp. She is a beauty with wooden masts, cloth sails and a maiden figure head at the bow. Anyhow, I worked all day in the shop but did manage around early evening to snap these photos of a lovely boat on the lovely waters of Port Townsend. You can almost smell the salt in the air! Enjoy! Ahoy, Lois

The County Fair

Here is a picture of Jacob and Phil at The Jefferson County Fair here in Port Townsend in August. Jacob is exhibiting his friend's kitty, Darla Mae as Milagro was too young. Phil is taking pictures in the background.

The house will be quiet tonight with Jacob gone to the fair and my lap buddy, Milagro with him. I have made lots of jewelry for the shop yesterday and today and managed to work a bit on a new painting. I also have new silver pieces done and will need to post a picture or two here. White bronze has been my new casting metal - it looks so much like silver but at a fraction of the cost! Anyhow, here is a picture of some lampwork beaded necklaces I made for my " Back to fall business " display window. I used new czech glass and vintage german beads along with lampwork beads from a woman in Oregon. See ya' later gator! lois

Getting JaKe ReAdY ....

After much gathering and packing and printing and designing cat cages and planning the origami he is giving his lecture on; Jacob is nearly ready to head out for the state fair. He'll be exhibiting Milagro and he is so excited he can barely contain himself. Not so, poor little Milagro! If he knew what was in store for him - he would be hiding in the garage and not playing with his little hot pink stuffed mouse! Poor baby! We still need one more quick trip to the vet's office and a few hours of school for jake and then .... onto the really big show! Wish him luck! Hope he wins ribbons! Goodnight and good luck Jake!

Cats & More Cats

In this incredibly cool picture from Chuck and Helene in Hawaii you can see all the feral cats on the hillside by their condo. It is very unusual to have a colony of white cats. Almost all these cats are white. When I first saw them on her hillside; I thought they were white plastic grocery store bags stuck in the trees and brush. I know they cause problems but I hope they are not harmed and rather are caught neutered or spayed and put back. They are a neat thing to observe. Jacob is so in to cats that he wants to go there and take care of all of them. Until later .... Lois
